The NTSB’s preliminary of Jack Roush’s crash at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh during AirVenture has been released, with Roush speaking on the record with reporters for the first time about the crash.

In a story at Motorsports.com, Roush was quoted as saying:

“I filed my NTSB report today…It speaks for itself. The reality of it — on a trip arrival into Oshkosh, Wisc. —  I was put in conflict with the flight plan of another airplane close to the ground, and I was unable to address the conflict and keep the airplane flying. I ground-looped the airplane. . .”

According to the Motorsports report, which can be read in full here, Roush suffered severe facial injuries in the crash of his Hawker Beechcraft Premier IA business jet, including a ruptured left eyeball that cost him the sight in that eye, and was hospitalized for more than two weeks.
